Description
Trying out some new birch trees I purchased unfortunately I didnt test them out first and they fall foul or a vue bug that some items when placed as eco system and rendered with path tracer dont render correctly but if placed individually render ok(Eon said it was an issue they were working but nothing done so far) . So path tracer rendered these in 2 hours full of artifacts because they are eco system and being too lazy to place them individually just used vues default render engine so render time was 49.5 hours !
thanks for taking time to have alook

Superb countryscape!

the realism here is as convincing as ever, in spite of the issues — 49.5 hours to render though, Vue needs to work on more than the tree eco system, I still hate them as a company :)

Fantastic. Very real. Could pass for a photo in most cases. I'll bet if you change some render settings you could reduce the render time significantly and not see much degradation in the render, if any. I do not know if you use the render presets or a preset for this, but I suggest not doing that.
I suggest not using a preset, but under Render Quality make sure Sub rays are all checked and under Super Sampling just check soft shadows and leave the rest unchecked. The quality does not need to be higher than 46%. For anti aliasing check object ONLY. Under the Edit Aliasing settings, set the strategy to Crisp or Sharp, then set the Pixel min and max to 4 and 16 and contrast to 90%. Make sure Geometry is 0 ZERO. That is important. Do not bother with Texture filtering or Texture Anti Aliasing for now. I don't know what atmosphere model you're using but under the sky, haze and fog tab I would keep the atmo setting at the bottom at 0. Under the light tab I would set the Quality (in the upper right area) to -1. For the Sun use automatic softness. And I would edit shadows to 98% and make the quality +1. I don't know if these settings look high or low to you, but as an experiment maybe you could try these settings on this pic since you have a time reference with your current setting. I would love to know the result if you have time for experimenting.
Your textures might all be image based rather than procedural, so that still might cause some slowness depending on the detail of the textures.

The trees are wonderful. 49 hours to render is a labor of love that paid off. This is a beautiful render to view at full screen. Such a feeling of photo real !!!!

Definitely worth the 49hours the birches are perfectly spaced and rendered. I keep remembering an old birch wood on a hill top in Birmingham England despite being very close to the old British Layland plant it was quite an atmospheric place. Really great render.
