So... let's start with the usual introduction. (Sorry, Mr. Sterling was not available...) Doc Covid: Oh, the offerings! See how brightly they shine! You have given me your time - far more than two weeks, hasn't it been? So generous! You gave your money, either in lost wages, or a lost job, or at least in your taxes to pay for treatments to keep you safe. You gave your holidays and your special events, those irreplaceable moments and their memories, all gone or tainted now by my presence. Your privacy, your relationships, the companionship of others, the comfort of holding someone’s hand, an embrace, even a free and unfettered breath - those you laid down, too. You gave me your ability to travel, to pop out for a cup of coffee or to go for a walk, or even to buy food or stand in your own yard. You sacrificed the right to gather, to pray, to speak, to sing, to listen, even to learn... your hopes, your dreams, your future and your freedoms, for yourself, for your children, for your parents, for your neighbours. You gave me everything and laid it on the altar. Thank you. Thank you all, so very much. It's beautiful, how much you are willing to give up. But... ...I want more.
