Description
-o§o- Hello again, long time no see,and most glad to be back again over here...This year's Fall season gave me the opportunity to do a bit of sightseeing for a week, and visit a well-known area of the 'Provence' region that I'd never been there before, called 'Luberon', a complex mountain range close to the Alps but geologically different from them.
-o§o- The photo here features the village of Lourmarin, that has kept so far an extraordinary unity in its typical 'provençal' architecture dating back from the 17th century (I saw a couple of houses dated 1638!), but Lourmarin has been inhabited from Neolithic times, and survived the Roman conquest, the Middle Ages, the religion wars and the terrible 1720 Plague till our current times when it was eventually and understandably so labelled 'one of France's most beautiful villages'.
-o§o- Thanks to my host friends I was able to get the feel of this magnificent and busy village, partly deserted by cars because streets are too narrow !, and observe the typical landscape all around, made of vineyards, fields of lavender and olive trees, oak and cherry trees, willows, bathed in a gorgeous and specific sunlight that a century ago already fascinated the French and English Impressionist painters. Last but not least, I was lucky to gaze and take in that Mediterranean gem of a village from my bedroom window that you can see in the photo, with the white shutters right from down the green coppery roof of the church!
-o§o- Thank you so much for your visits to my gallery while I was away and for the supportive comments on my latest springtime photo, have a nice weekend everyone, and stay safe wherever you are ...Please zoom in for more atmospheric details!
