Description
-o§o- To illustrate one more time this fall season's outing in the Provence region, south of Lyons, I've chosen this view of the small city of Gordes (pronounced [go:rd]), that proudly faces the northern face of the Luberon mountain range. For a French 'Northerner' like me, such a village architecture is totally different from the historical and traditional architecture standards we can see over here, with these gently sloping tile rooftops, huddled together as if they were overlapping with each other_ perhaps to get a kind of protection from the strong and cold 'mistral' wind that surely blow the rainy clouds away but brings in instead a chilly and continuous breeze to the region as a compensation for showers and drizzle !
-o§o- Besides, the differences between Northern and Southern France are shown here, with the vegetation and tree species, such as the lanky dark green cypress which is a typical Mediterranean tree species, along with the olive trees, for instance.
-o§o- The little city of Gordes has received an official award as being one of the most beautiful villages in France, and I have no intention whatsoever of opposing this decision !
-o§o- Thank you so much for your nice comments on my latest Provençal photo taken in Lourmarin, have a nice week everyone, and enjoy this wonderful Indian summer colours all around ...Please zoom in for more atmospheric details!

a very beautiful composition with the brown stone against the dark green vegetation, and an interesting view of vertical living in this architectural paradise, as that is some height, over 9 stories, between the lower part where the cyclist is and the higher part where the people are out on their terrace. Your going to have to be fit to live there :)

With all the old-fashioned buildings (I like things old-fashioned), this ought to be a nice place to visit. I can see a cyclist in a yellow shirt. :)
Hope all's been well during my absence, by the way. Merry Christmas!
