Description
Now we have come to the end of the story of Klane Kalonia and the Great Burning. It ends with a new beginning, for, as you have just heard, it is at one and the same time also the story of how Aberstone was born from the ashes of Ironhope. In later years, Aberstone would be proud to declare itself the oldest of the seven Foundation Cities and proud to declare too, that it was the famous Klane Kalonia who was their very own founding father.
What of the fate of Klane Kalonia, himself? Do not ask. Let us leave him in the peace and sweetness of his reunion with Lucalle for a little while at least. He deserves that much, for dark times and sorrow lie ahead when the call of destiny comes once again, as you shall hear if you attend to the later legends of Klane Kalonia. But those stories will keep for another time, and perhaps another teller.

Klane Kalonia and the Great Burning, is the third in a projected series of stories belonging to the Legends of Klane Kalonia. It was preceeded by "Klane Kalonia and the Station of Seers" and "Klane Kalonia and the Creature in the Crater", which provide an origin story for our hero and an account of how he met the princess Lucalle.
You can find the entire back catalog of these three stories in an album pulling them together from my gallery, should you feel interested enough to want to read them.
If there is anyone viewing the recent images who remembers the first postings for this story I'll be amazed! I can't believe it's taken me more than ten years to finish it - a combination of writers and artists block and other interests left it languising in limbo for far too long. But I always wanted to give it a proper ending, when I could find time and inspiration and I'm very happy that I have at long last delivered a conclusion to the story (well to THIS story anyway!). Part of the reason I've managed to do this is because I want to publish all this content on a World Anvil site, together with other material about the world of Klane Kalonia and that (plus a lot of lockdown) has finally given me the impetus and time to wrap it up.
Later projected legends in order have the titles, "Klane Kalonia and the Spy from the Moon", "Klane Kalonia and Eshmelle", "Klane Kalonia and the Judgement of Trassumul", "Klane Kalonia and the New Sophisticates" and "Klane Kalonia and the Awakening of History".
There's one random render from the next story I already posted (not included in the album, so that the album is ordered correctly) and there is complete text for the relatively short final legend. That's the one I am going to illustrate next because I know I can finish it. As for the others, unless I pick up the pace life will be too short to finish them and I'm not sure I will necessarily attempt more than outlines. That's fine. The Legends are back story in the World of the Long Sleep and sometimes the hazy half dreaming stories we make in our own head are almost as good as the ones we read and write...
