Two minutes render time is so impressive for the nice effect--I love volumetrics, but in the past I have found they take so long to render I don't use them; you must have found a better way to use them! Your composition is so good, too!

Ok, I'll tell you a secret, yes it is a volumetric shader and it is applied to a simple plane in front of the camera. All others volumetric shaders use true 3D volumetric, though.
