Description

Well the title says almost everything. I hope to do more interesting fluid simulations than this of course, but it's a fun start. Blender 2.93.5. Blender has two production quality rendering systems built in, one is Eevee, which is faster, the other is Cycles, which can produce more realistic results. In this video I show the fluid simulation results rendered using both Eevee and Cycles. Render times with Eevee were around one second per frame (yes, really) while Cycles managed about 1 minute per frame for the later frames and about twenty seconds for the early frames which have less fluid in them, so take less calculation. I do prefer the Cycles results, but make up your own mind. There's a higher resolution version on my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0iVK_Vn9Gc

Interesting comparison--I like the look and turbulence of the first simulation, I think, it has all the neat vortices that I love in water movement.

Thanks. It's the first time I've produced anything passable with Eeevee, it's a lot harder to set up a scene for rendering in Eevee so it looks good, and some scenes just never look acceptable to me in Eevee. Cycles needs next to no setup, just add some sort of light and it works. Learning the fluid simulator in Blender encourages Eevee use because rendering animations takes ages in Cycles even on a fast machine — and I don't have the budget to use a render farm even though online farms are getting dramatically cheaper.

This is really pretty cool! Fascinating simulation, and it looks very realistic!
