Reaching the top of the stairs, Miranda finds herself temporarily blinded by the afternoon sun. To her delight she sees that the boardwalk is still running. This was always her favorite part of the funhouse. As you can see the boardwalk is split down the middle and the two sides slide back and forth in opposite directions. Walking on either side you can make jerky progress to the far end. But straddling the split with one foot on either side you can either walk and stand still. Or propel yourself to the other end at double your normal walking speed. Miranda, who has good balance even in heels, find she is still able to do both. About halfway down the boardwalk Miranda noticed that the spooky music and screams seemed to be coming from almost right under her feet. She hadn't seen anything really scary inside and wonders if she had missed something. There was that door she say under the stairs...
