I saw my friend today at McD. he has lost weight and looking very frail. I can tell he is depressed. I hope by some luck he will live longer. a terrific person and a Hero/ Veteran of US experiments of exposing them with radiation

That is horrible what our soldiers have been exposed to over the many wars waged since becoming a nation! This is an excellent photo, Richard! Has an old feel to it! Most excellent result!

Cool old building! I'm so sorry to hear that your friend is depressed, although I can certainly understand why he would be.

Splendid photo in black in white. I understand perfectly the low morale of your friend, I spent some time in Mururoa myself. I saw seven bombs explode in one shooting season, the boat was moored 500 meters from the shooting site, so far I have not been caught by cancer or any other disease, I wish courage to overcome this junk.

There is no honor too great for those who participated in those ghastly experiments. They are unsung heroes, all of them. I hope your friend finds peace - that's got to be a terrible burden.

What a wild place--I like the monochrome! Sad to hear about your friend's state--it's never easy to be in poor health, and his past must have contributed to his problems. May he find comfort in friendship!

if you are interested do a search for "Operation Dominic". you probably do not have much time to be reading, but just a glance will show what the "good ole USA" has done to soldiers and people that lived in the Pacific. Ruining islands where the original people lived cannot return.
I hope you/family have a safe and enjoyable holidays and Merry Christmas and New Year. I dread New Year's night because of the idiots that is always firing guns and or fireworks. Dogs does not understand and I do not understand as well. the gang bangers are using assault rifles with no regard about where the bullets will end up hitting. done been in my home for 36 years and I do not want to move.

You've mentioned him before and I feel for this guy. He really put it all on the line.
The monochrome look is great for this one. With a little post work you could make this on look like it was taken a 100 years in the past.

one of my regrets in missing so many shots is that I miss your narrative about the people in your life. Normally I read everything, even if I'm late; but this last month I couldn't get here very much. So it's painful to find out in your gallery that someone you know is very sick....especially from those terrible experiments. I hope he survived. I haven't read ahead yet to find out.
Your picture has a Depression Era feeling to it. I love the grays, and that statue in front, and the decay in thie walls...a very enticing Depression-feeling shot, like you were on the Farm Security Administration, and were passing by to capture this shot. Lovely angle too, with the corner of the bldg leading to more open space. I love that there's tombstone right there; and the big "Woo Tom Social Club" painted across those slats. Black and white was perfect. A very old-feeling shot.
