Description

Gwydion had aspirations that were both simple and lofty at the same time. He was smitten with a cloud giant, and longed for the day when she would return his feelings. He set out in the world with his trust bagpipes, aiming to make a name for himself, to be worthy of the most beautiful woman he ever beheld. Always a sucker for a pretty face, he'd find friends along the way, feel his heart pound for the grace of a Lady's smile, and ultimately return home a hero. And what of the giantess that haunted his dreams? She had noticed his absence. The longer he was gone, the more she realized how much she cared for him. He returned from his Mission scarred, haunted, but still posessing the same jovial spirit that would sit in nearby birch trees to play loud sonnets to her beauty. Gwydion earned his own happily-ever-after. (Based on a D&D character I had in a game that ended with real-world betrayals. After everything, I felt he deserved his happy ending. Gwydion the Half-Orc. A Monk of Tempus, a self-taught bard. Whenever a buddy was in trouble, he was the first to dive headfirst into danger to save them. Loyal, stalwart, and ultimately, noble. And against all odds, and despite having a hard time saying no to pretty girls the world over, he returned home a virgin. Chaste out of loyalty to the woman that inspired him to leave home in the first place.) He was pretty sweet. Had a neat sword, a staff of the Sun, boots that were rainbow-colored and left various animal footprints. His favorite weapon was a boomerang that would drag an opponent back to him to receive a strong left cross. And every morning? He used the bagpipes his mother gave him for his daily devotions. A Half-Orc, with a human father and a full-blooded orc mother. I could go on about him, but I think I'll save it for future renders. I pick up Mom again tomorrow. Maybe. Depending on how the new medication does. Fingers crossed this will be the last time for a while.

Thanks! Gwydion is a character near and dear to me, so I like to imagine he did well once the adventure was over.

Tempus - reminds me of the character in the old Thieves' World anthology...

He was a lot of fun. I originally made the character just as a sit-in until the GM got a few more players, but ended up staying in for the long haul because he was too much fun. He gained a reputation for "wrassling" and jumping directly into whatever was threatening one of his friends. One time he dove into a Gelatinous Cube because a buddy was trapped inside it. Unable to move or swing his weapon, he bit the thing. Good times.

Oddly enough, the few times he had one-on-one adventures with the DM, nothing bad happened to him at all. Just the best rolls. Confronted by an Ankheg? No problem! Roc circling above? No problem! He was legend.

I see him becoming the the happy father of several kids all bigger than he is by the time they're teenagers - and he's six-foot-four!

Sometimes the accidental characters are the ones that end up being the best! This guy sounds awesome!
