I am the author Lyle Aryn. Writing is my first love, my one true passion. Every since I was able to string a sentence together, it's all I've wanted to do. Websites where you can find my work and more are below.
I started using Daz Studio October 23rd of 2018, just as something to dink around with. I'd been signed up with the sight for a while, and would occasionally remember to check for freebies. I was surprised at what I had when I finally loaded up the program. I just started playing around with it, figuring it out. I'd say about 92% of what I've learned in the program I've learned just by playing around with it.
In December I went from being a dutiful son looking after his mom, to the full-time, no nights or weekends off, caretaker of my Mom. As someone who struggles with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder or two, this change has had a drastic impact on my own personal care and well-being. I turned to my blossoming love of doing digital art as a way to cope with the mountains of stress on my shoulders. I do miniature painting, too. But when you haven't slept in 4 days, handling a brush can be very messy. Not being able to paint to my own personal satisfaction was making this avenue of relaxation increasingly frustrating.
Daz Studio has an undo button that you just don't get with painting miniatures.
As my skill with the program grows, so does my confidence. I did the cover to my fifth novel, "Because the Night" using Daz Studio, as well as new covers for two previous releases. (Though they haven't been updated just yet.)
I'm looking to always improve my artistic work, no matter what the medium, and Daz Studio is no different.

It looks like Gwydion is in good hands now...I couldn't resist the pun! "LOL" :-)
You did a beautiful story to go along with this awesome render. I can clearly see why your are both a talented writer and an great graphic artist! You did an excellent job in creating this character! Best wishes to your mom, hope it all goes good Lyle.

Thanks! Gwydion is a character near and dear to me, so I like to imagine he did well once the adventure was over.

Tempus - reminds me of the character in the old Thieves' World anthology...

He was a lot of fun. I originally made the character just as a sit-in until the GM got a few more players, but ended up staying in for the long haul because he was too much fun. He gained a reputation for "wrassling" and jumping directly into whatever was threatening one of his friends. One time he dove into a Gelatinous Cube because a buddy was trapped inside it. Unable to move or swing his weapon, he bit the thing. Good times.
Oddly enough, the few times he had one-on-one adventures with the DM, nothing bad happened to him at all. Just the best rolls. Confronted by an Ankheg? No problem! Roc circling above? No problem! He was legend.

Looks like he's accomplished his mission - and it was a big one! LOL
Really cool and well done! All my best wishes for you and your mom..

I see him becoming the the happy father of several kids all bigger than he is by the time they're teenagers - and he's six-foot-four!

Sometimes the accidental characters are the ones that end up being the best! This guy sounds awesome!
