i wish i had had a shot of these things just before they bloom/seed (whatever the term is?!?), it looks like little alien eyes squeezing out from a bone dry husk of extraterrestrial origins, totally amazing and scary and beautiful. not a clue what these are called though... im in connecticut, north east region of north america if that helps any of you nature folks out =)
