Joyeux Noël et Joyeuses Fêtes à tous ! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all ! I hope you will all have a wonderful time.
This year's picture was a real challenge because of the 20 characters I have placed in it, 23 if I count the 3 I have turned to props. And I don't even speak of the 100 trees in the background. After optimizing the scene, I am sure I could have added even more characters, but it was already crowded enough, so I had to refrain myself. ^^
It was challenging but also very fun to make. It has rendered in one path, even if I had to do it 3 times. The first time I have stopped it after a little more than 3 hours of rendering, because I was not happy with the light and with some poses. The second time, the power of my house shut down when I was at minimum at 15 hours of rendering. I was not happy, but it has allowed me to modify few more things. And finally the third one was the good one. ^^
It was fun to make, but next year I'll try to do something much more simplier. :D

Very impressive. I love seeing crowd scenes as I know how much of a challenge they can be. Not only do you have the figures, but the clothing and hair and I find the hair can be as taxing as the figures. And then you have to pose them so they fit together. You did a great job on it all. Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas! :) It was a lot of work indeed. I think between the scene itself and the render time, it took around 10 days to make. I agree, hair can be ridiculously heavy. But I have started to use the same set of textures, that I like, on many hair (usually keeping only the original Transparency Map), this way I am gaining a lot of memory. About memory, I should add that there is no map bigger than 2k here, this way the scene was not too heavy.

Merci beaucoup! Oui, cette image a demandé beaucoup de travail. Ça m'a pris plusieurs jours pour tout mettre en place, trouver les bons vêtements, les bonnes expressions, etc. Et je ne parle même pas du temps de rendu qui fut bien long lui aussi. :)
