Description

Surviving members of the ill-fated legions of Quinctilius Varus, lost to a horrific attack by vengeful German tribemen in the Teutoberger Wald in 9 A.D.

I don't think they made it back to Rome to tell their story. Quite the historic defeat for that legion! Excellent depiction! Very well imagined and realized! Many fine kudos from me!

There were stories of a (very) few stragglers who did allegedly get back to some of the forts along the frontier, but not many - the defeat was that decisive, and for the Romans, must have been a HUGE kick in the ego!
