Ute goes retro - like the vintage setting and of course the humor :)

This is a fun image. I really like the consistent late '40s or early '50s feel about it. I was a little girl in that postwar period so I'm sure I have a feeling of nostalgia. It would still be a pretty ordinary picture except your decision to place a rooster on top of the car! Is that Josh? Whatever the case, this is another of your cheerful pictures that brought a smile to my face. Thank you, Ute!

Great integration of figures and setting, and well chosen colours too. The child's querulous expression is particularly good!

This feels so much like Chicago in the 30s. (It could be any city, but I can't help but think of Chicago since I live here.) Your facades are old and soiled, with stark urban light on them: This feels like a seedy part of town, like a scene out of a gangster flick. You have a lot of concrete too. I love that old car stopped on and angle---he's crossing over both sides of the road. And your 30s costumes...The litlte girl looks downright angry; love her feet pointing to each other (as kids will do). And the bright yellow awnings, the roosters (love that you put them in there) and the closed-up bookstore. A real early mornning scene out of the 30's, with a stalled car and some pretty pissed-off people. The light feels like the 30s too. (And check out that old, old air conditioner, in the upper left) A real 30's scene---a classy piece, Ute. You captured the milieu perfectly.

What a charming illustration. As much as I like the illustration I like the words of Winnie the Pooh. So true they are. Well done and enjoy the view
