I love you too, my dear Steve. Those renders were made for testing that concept only. I implemented my version only because my next product will need it. Usually when you have that situation and the product allows to place your camera almost in any place, it's not a problem, just zoom in to the true mesh and it's fine. The problem will be with rendering people entering the building or outdoors renders when you need them walk on the ground and keep the water visible at the same time. If I didn't had that situation, I wouldn't have designed my implemented version. Of course it can be easily done otherwise, just using a plane and have the matte applied. It's a Daz script, from scripts->utilities->create advanced iray node, then enable matte on your plane and you are done. That will not allow -though- having underwater render when the water is just a plane. My version allows underwater renders, it's not that big deal unless needed.
