It is not very difficult to make such photos Jacomina. You have to choose a slow shutter speed of the camera (between 0.5 and 2 seconds) and then simply move the camera during the release (either horizontally or vertically) and you are done. You should try this out. It makes fun.

I've done this, but the results were more chaotic and less pleasing. You divided the shot nearly in half, and the light-lines are like lights in an intense race. I love how the lights divide the image into a perfect top and bottom. A very pleasing image.
