Description
I shouldn't have said we were having a mild winter so far in my last post, lol. Ever since the cold weather and snow have moved in. It's -22 C, or about -6 F in this image, but somehow the setting sun can make it seem warmer. I like the highlights on the clouds and the many layers, from the fast moving low ones up to the very high cirrus type ones. The river is almost frozen over now and covered with snow. In a few more weeks you can build your ice shanty and fish for smelts, if you're into that sort of thing, hs ha. Bring some warm cloths and a bit of rye, then turn up the tunes... ;)
Take er easy and keep on rock'n... 🐉

very beautiful winter-scape and capture. A friend and myself were out camping as teenagers and we had no idea that the weather was going have the bottom fall out. -9 F wind chill. I was cold the whole night in a cheap sleeping bag and awoke to 3-4 inches of snow.at least we were under a rock ledge that kept the snow off

You're making me cold just thinking about it, lol. Not a time to get stuck outside when it's that cold...

It's a good time for close-ups of that dry grass poking through the snow. Playing around with dof in close up can yield some cool photos. Beautiful scene.

That sky is fabulous, such a beautiful view to feast ones eyes upon. I'm going to need snowshoes to go for a stroll over that frozen lake though lol.

One winter working up around Zamma Lake in Alberta based outa High Level Alta in the early 1980s I spent a day in an Ice Fishing shack on the Hay River with a couple dudes from the crew, don't remember a lot of it, know there wasn't much fishing(I ain't much of a fisher person) what I remember is putting away a bottle of Cuervo and a bottle of Crown Royal between the 3 of us and woke up back in my bunk with the toes of my Sorel Caribous all ripped up, they musta dragged me back to camp.

It looks really cold, but also really beautiful! Wonderful photo. I think I'll pass on the ice fishing, though. Not a fan of cold weather at all! 😬

The clouds are gorgeous, but I love the scraggly plants and snow in the foreground even more.
