Description
January 21st of this year marked the 41st anniversary of the founding of the Delorean Motor Company ( DMC ).
A stock DeLorean model rendered in an image would be at best deathly boring no matter who did it.
Something a bit more fun was in order.
The DeLorean was a boxy sedan with a stainless steel body and gull wing doors.
It looked way cool turned into a ficticious time machine when seen in the movies.
A few weeks ago I wanted to do something for the occasion and bought two extremely inexpensive models.
Neither had an interior. After wasting some time modeling an interior I found a model made back in 2014
in fbx format that was offered as a freebie. It wasn't a solid block, but rather had individual components for
doors, wheels, etc. It had no textures but that was okay. It was the DeLorean Time machine from
Back To The Future which was what I wanted.
The model was not the flying version so I modeled some parts to make it into the flying version.
I scrapped the original seats and made new ones. The interior is quite detailed with wire cables and
instruments. There is even the brass alarm clock that Doc Brown put on the dashboard to let Marty
know when it was time for the DeLorean to be hit by a lightning strike that would provide power from
the reactor and get Marty home back to 1985. Digital electronics were primitive in 1955. The point-
contact transistor was only invented in 1947 and the bi-polar transistor one year later in 1948. A digital
clock would have been possible but the display would be electromechanical and take up a lot of room
in the car. The wind up one did the job back then and can still do the job today. Think about it.
No power means no electronics. No batteries, same problem.
I have a brass alarm clock. It has hands that glow in the dark. Super cool, yep and impervious
to nuclear EMP pulses, power brownouts and failures.
The flying DeLorean stops to refuel. If you've seen Back To The Future you may remember a similar
scene at the end of the first instalment of the franchise.
With the DeLorean in drive mode, the Mr. Fusion reactor was unreachable by my petite characters
Siobahn and Coco. I added a retractable step so the reactor could be reached as can seen in the
third frame.
This is more of a humour series because I think it would take more than just an overripe banana to
provide power from a fusion generator, but who knows until one is built. :)

Images rendered in PoserPro2014.
Most textures are my own.
Visual Effects and post were done in Photoshop.
During my absence I continued to make images that have not been shared.
I also made a few short animations of the driving and flying versions of the DeLorean.
