She brought out a platter covered by a lid. By all guesses, it was a roast for Christmas dinner. "A turkey?" he asked. "Lamb," she corrected. "Oh that sounds-" he started and then she opened the lid. He laughed when he saw a familiar furry face. "Oh it's Max!" he cried out in delight as his wife laughed. Max gave out a quick bark. "Surprise! Though he's not for dinner. The real roast is in the kitchen," she said, still laughing. "Well I should hope so. Cute costume," he told her. "I gave Max's Christmas present a little early and he was excited to show it off," she explained. "Well it's wonderful," he told her, also laughing, "Merry Christmas to you both."
