Description
I've posted several bamboo paintings, but this was my first...
(1980s)
You do this with a straight brush: The brush stands upright, and the leaves are done in single flips of the wrist. It takes a while to get it. It's traditional Chinese...
(I also studied Chinese Scroll mounting: It takes 15 years to master it---I spent 3 months---but it was just extraordinary: They gave such immense attention to every strip of silk, brocade, cloth, etc. This was on a scroll until the scroll fell apart: That's why it takes 15 years...)
I'm doing very little new art, so thank you for being patient while I post older work! I hope you're all well, and I wish you all inspiration. Have a fine weekend, mark

This is wonderful! It definitely reflects the Chinese ink style, and those are so beautiful in their not-so-simple simplicity. I can almost feel the sturdy breeze on this bamboo plant. Superbly done, Mark! Looking forward to more.

love how you designed this as if the wind were blowing pretty good Mark. and Rod took the thought from my head about the Chinese or may Japanese style design. lower right part seems to have a square looking object with oriental font?

This is excellent! I love the motion and flow of the plant. I can feel the wind and I can hear the leaves rustle. I can't stop looking at this, it's so beautiful. It seems simple, but it its not, and that's the fascination of this piece; it's a combination of so many things: light, dark, sound, sight, nature, and man-made, too. I love it!

Obviously i don't comment on your images very often, but i'm i sure have now and again, really is a fantastic sense of movement in the bend of the bamboo...really can't not be impressed by the talent it takes to master.....!!

This is really good, and not just saying that. You have the material to put together a book.

outstanding painting Mark. I wish I had pictures of my early oil paintings. I sold my first painting to a restaurant of The Palacio del Obispado, Spanish for Bishop's Palace, is located in Monterrey, Nuevo Leรณn state, Northeastern Mexico. I really enjoyed Monterrey (33 times), but I have not been there since 1993. I would enjoy seeing friends there, but the dangers are lurking for tourists and Mexicanos returning to visit their families. A man that worked for me several years, was accosted in Saltillo, Mexico and robbed of his papers, money, and his Pickup. the robbers beat him and threw him in a cemetery. lucky for him and his family he survived
