It seems to me that the project was abandoned, at the time of this can they didn't have vehicles big enough to carry it and the batteries didn't last long (kind of like electric cars right now). LOL, very nice scene.

I can think of a couple uses for a giant robot. We'll start with my neighbor that thinks it's okay to water his lawn with my hose.

Reminds me of an older TV show where the government had a library in the middle of nowhere full of magical, mysterious, and technical stuff that was always causing trouble. The boss drove a white XK150 OTS.
Jag was a pretty survivor but the truck in your image is really neat. There's an almost identical one in my 'hood in Florida. Perfectly restored, though blue. Gets a lot of attention from everyone except the 'drift' kids. A really neat machine. I'd have one if things were different.
