I am an amateur artist. I enjoy rendering 3D compositions and exploring random trains of thought when creating new images. I get a lot of inspiration from the many wonderful artist here at Renderosity. If you find a render I have created that you like, please give me a comment. I love hearing from you. I apologize for my previous image! I had the scale wrong on the cathedral. Oh well...

This cathedral must be famous because of the number of people who visit it, so the monks leave to pray in peace. Very nice work.

I didn't think the previous image was wrong, but more a transept of the larger cathedral. The monks would be more likely to gather in the transept than the nave (for matins). I believe the nave was reserved mostly for large ceremonies officiated by a Priest or Bishop. You could often find a smaller service several times a day in the transept officiated by a Priest, Abbot, or Monk, and then two larger services, morning and evening, in the nave. Historically, the singing monks were a steady source of income for the church, as their inspirational 'performances' always drew a crowd. You were spot on and could paint this picture many times over with everything happening in the larger cathedrals. I even recall joining in impromptu services being held in odd places throughout the cathedral - a blessing for a sick child, or prayers for the injured. In the Vatican, there are priests wandering around just for the purpose of a quick blessing or comforting prayer. And don't forget the layman tour guide explaining details of the architecture to visitors. You picked a good subject to portray. A good cathedral is a busy place.

the only reason why I would be inside of a Catholic church would be to appreciate the architecture and taking photos. except for funerals also. superb composition and sense of size

Thanks for the comment, Richard! I greatly appreciate it. Lets just say that my feelings toward the catholic 'religion' have greatly changed since I was dragged through it as a child and young adult. So when depicting this church, I wasn't implying it was a catholic church. Perhaps an off shoot of some druid or more natural religion with a more direct communion with the universe. Yes, I do have what look like monks, but their robes are more in the line with druids, I think. I realize now I should not have used the color brown for them. That would have been better. Perhaps a green shade would have been better?

Superb job!

Nice church. There are so many people, there, I hope it's for a celebration.

Someone should rustle all those bystanders to their seats to let the true believers hear the melodious chants of the Monks!
(Reminds me of Boarding School)
A Cross would be nicew upon the altar.
Overall, it's a lovely scene and I used to be punished by Monks! Let's not go there!

Really like the grand, spacious feel of the cathedral's interior. Like all the detail on the architecture as well. Could it be a bit too brightly lit, though?
With all the (brightly clothed) people standing around, you'd think the Sunday morning session was just over. :)
