Description

This was the common 'console' colour television set that was likely to be seen in homes in many parts of the world many years ago and before flat screen TVs became commonplace. These console TV sets were made to compliment the decor and accompanying furniture within the home, especially the family room, parlor or living room. These sets were dreadfully heavy, the set's wooden cabinet and its containing electronic components and related materials combined. In addition and due to the design characteristics these sets employed extremely high voltages within the set's video circuitry. Sound was monaural, delivered by one small speaker in the front panel of the set. Fun fact: The term 'set top box,' as referred to a specific device like a cable TV service tuner or converter box, originates from the then common scenario where the tuner box or converter unit actually sat on top of the TV. Thus the term applied. These days one couldn't literally set such an external device 'on top' of one of today's common 'flat screen' TVs, although the general term still is used commonly by cable TV technicians and related sales people. This particular model set appears to be one of the last of this type and traditional wooden cabinet design.

I am actually looking for a better-detailed and more realistic looking 3D model on a TV set of this type. Anyone here seen one around for Poser?
