wow, more about gliders...and of course it reiterates what a massive effort D-Day was, and how many operations went into it. My uncle was in WWII, and said how Patton was so angry that Montgomery ("monty") was allowed to pass over Patton...but it was a joint effort. And powerful that they considered the air operation a 'failure' (in the plaque), when so much was put into it. Fascinating background here. It does point out that defeating terrible enemies is very, very costly, in life and materials...D-Day was overwhelming...
