Description
Something unapologetically far from our current troubles.
One of the more interesting characters of Celtic folklore and mythology is Gwenhwyfar (literally "The White Enchantress". Her image has transformed over the ages as has her name, and there are now half a dozen different tropes relating to the character most people know as Guinevere (or Jennifer in its modern form). In the earliest tales , as recorded by the early historian Gruffudd ap Arthur (aka Geoffrey of Monmouth), she is Arthur's queen, a great beauty of Roman descent. When Arthur leaves Britain to wage war on the continent, he leaves Guinevere in the care of his nephew Mordred who seduces her and usurps the throne. For a long while, the memory of this infidelity was preserved in Welsh folklore and to such an extent that in some parts of the country, as recently as the nineteenth century, the name Guenevere was regarded as an insult to a girl's moral character!
Later French medieval traditions cast her in more romantic light, particularly in the well known tales of Lancelot etc. as a fatally flawed but noble and virtuous lady.
I've left this deliberately ambiguous so you can read whichever version you prefer into the image!

So many of these legends have become twisted and adapted to suit places and times. Iseult is another example. She might be anther good one to render, Joe :)

What about the true story of a nice girl who likes to wear ancient clothes and who takes walks in the woods, like she was a dream ? This is purely superb.

interesting background to set up this delightful image, like her contemplative/reflective pose and the dying light which adds to the moodiness of it, very well composed

I realize as I read your text that I never thought of Guinevere as immoral. I think more of how her actins are a tragedy for Arthur. Hmmmm. Lovely figure and gown.
