IDL is always brighter and a bit more realistic with shadows, for sure. I does wonders with skin and that's so evident when you compare these. I haven't used Firefly for awhile but I seem to recall IDL takes some extra time but it's time well spent here. Thank you for sharing both images!

Honestly, I can barely tell a difference between the two renders, but they're both beautiful! I love her shiny red lips! I typically use IDL when I want the colors from my environment to influence the lighting, but if there isn't a lot of color in an environment, IDL won't have much to work with. Did you use an environment sphere or some other prop with ambient materials to cast light? I suspect that rendering with SSS enabled will do more for the way skin looks than IDL. (If I'm saying a bunch of stuff you already know, feel free to ignore!)
