I think Michael makes a good point. My ha'penny's worth: Whether we get obliterated in 10 mins by a hypersonic missile or in 30 mins by a conventional ICBM is neither here nor there. Nuanced judgement is required to prevent escalation; simplistic assessments of who is "in the right" are unhelpful at this point. Egos must be put aside; the west is not entirely blameless either more informed minds than mine have pointed out (several very interesting podcasts from the New York Times and the Beeb on the matter for those who are interested).
