Description
Can't remember where from I got the terror bird. Got a lot of old stuff in my runtime library ... POV-Ray render. Thanks for viewing!

I missed this b/c it's in the Other Apps gallery, and I usually only check the Poser gallery. If you did most of it in Poser but just used an external renderer, you could still put it in the Poser gallery! Love the prehistoric feel of the scene, with the plants and critters :-)

Thank you very much! The only Poser elements in this scene are the terror birds. This scene contains many thousands of procedurally placed grass patches, stones and trees, all copies of about 15 original objects (instancing). Unfortunately such scenes can’t be loaded and rendered with Poser because Poser can’t do instancing. Instancing would be my personal number one feature request for Poser 13!!

Instancing for Poser would be awesome, particularly for outdoor scenes like this! What software did you use? I'm guessing it was Vue or Terragen b/c they have their own galleries here, and I'm always curious about landscape generating apps.

This was done with POV-Ray. I used to have Vue but since it became subscription based I no longer do. Terragen is fine, too but I can’t accommodate with its interface. The latest version of Bryce is 32 bit only and will no longer run on the newer MacOS versions. You may find the script based interface of POV-Ray the worst but I use it for many years and have accumulated quite a library of scenes, materials, macros and include files over time. The render engine is not the fastest but can produce high quality output, a 64 bit Mac version is available and the best: it’s free :)!

Those birds are bad news, even though they look rather stately and handsome here!
