Description
The orphanage counted its residents every morning when each girl would stand by her bed. But one morning one of the girls was missing. She had vanished overnight. All doors had been locked. What happened to her? It remained a mystery.
Now that the orphanage is closed there have been reports of a girl holding a favorite doll, and more often that not she is standing my her cot where she should have been the morning she went missing. Long dismissed as rumor, an investigative team has been has set up cameras to see if the ghost is actually there. The result is inconclusive - a faint image of a girl holding a doll sometimes appears on a monitor, but seconds later it has vanished.
The Freamgipani dress comes from DAZ.

Great story to go along with the "haunted orphanage" set! Her eyes have that lost look that suits a ghost! Creepy in a good way :-)

Very good story and image. This is one that could be strengthened by some compositing of the image rendered with and without the ghostly girl so that some small degree of transparency would amplify her ghostly appearance. Such can also be accomplished with materials but is way more complicated that compositing two images. XD
Thanks for sharing.

Ghosts do not have to be transparent. That seems to be a CGI invention. With a more remote camera you can't see her sad face. I experimented with multiple camera positions and this one made the best combination of composition, lighting and mood. In particular the relationship between the girl and the painting on the wall is an important graphic element even if you don't notice it.

I agree ghosts don't have to be transparent and respect your choices as an artist. There's always something to consider. For instance, I am much more select in my use of the tool of narrow DoF as a result of considering feedback offered to me in good faith. =)

This is such a sad story! I feel sorry for the girl! That drawing on the wall is very scary!
