Lady Penelope On Holiday - Outfit Highlights
Every leading lady needs a good wardrobe!
For Lady Penelope Genevieve Philpott, gifted Sovereign Lady of the Imperial bloodline and Associate Researcher at the Sovereign Ministry of Science and Technology, outfits are an important part of her story.
The majority of steampunk fashion is derived from Victorian-era clothing. In most steampunk settings, for women, ankle-length dresses, corsets, stockings, high heel boots, double breasted jackets with mutton sleeves, gloves, and fascinators are de riguer. In the distant-future steampunk world of The Airship Andalusia, steampunk couterie is much more diversified, especially when leading ladies like Penelope have bodies with unearthly shape and musculature.
So, for the latest chapter in The Airship Andalusia saga — Lady Penelope On Holiday (which takes place following the events of Polonius & Penelope Books 1 & 2) — selecting clothing for all aspects of Lady Penelope’s life was a challenge.
I selecting her “looks”, the question was: How do you maintain a steampunk “look and feel” in Lady Penelope’s outfits while highlighting her amazing physique? It is a challenge, especially when her muscular shoulders, arms, thighs, and calves won’t comfortably fit into most classic steampunk garb.
Her wardrobe is a great example of ‘variations on a theme,’ combining elements of steampunk, dieselpunk, gothic, and modern fashion. Of course, all her outfits showcase her amazing-muscled thighs and calves and there’s lots of bare arms and shoulders, too.
Here are a few examples of Lady Penelope’s outfits from the upcoming release Lady Penelope On Holiday.
Enjoy!
