Description
Tried to use inverse kinematics. Did manage to get his legs up where he was squatting. But his knees were squeezed together so tight that even daylight wasn't getting through. Tried to use the dials to open things up a bit, but then the clothes got all wonky. So I turned off IK. This is the only time I actually achieved anything with IG. The pose I was going for had the fingers inter-locked. So this was my first time trying to do that. Thanks for looking.

This turned out great, my friend! A most excellent pose! He is getting a very fine looking tan as well! Most marvelous results with this render! Many fine kudos from me!

Perfect beach background for this scene! The interlocking fingers look great! Although he does look a little bit prim and proper about sitting there next to his surfboard :-)
I generally don't use IK as it can cause more pain than it's worth. But it can be useful for a few things, like when you've gone to the trouble of positioning the hands and/or feet and realize you want to make the body lean a bit, in which case you can enable IK on the hands/feet and translate the hip, while the hands and/or feet remain more or less where they were. I'm sure there are a few other cases where IK might be useful, but for the most part, I find it easier to pose without it. (However, enabling it on a hand and dragging the figure's hand around can be a momentary source of amusement, as is enabling Auto Balance and dragging the balance doohickey around :-)

Yes, I thought he looked a bit prim and proper too, but wasn't sure what to change! Thanks for the tips.
