Description
Never built, but the hottest thing a pilot could have flown. The Republic XF-103 should have been a Mach 3 interceptor in development in the '50ies. Only a mock up was built. At that speed, the pilot couldn't just bail out. It had an escape capsule that ejected downward. This mechanism could be used for boarding (shown here). Here you can also see it with Falcon missiles extended out.
