I very much like the opposition between the foreground and the background as well as the film of grey that permeates the whole scene and gives it a sense of tension and nostalgia. Wonderful artwork!

Such a rich and fun mix, with such a delightful, mysterious and playful result. I mean you play with time, history, dreams, silken nature, etc...I love that this queen is a statue who you've adorned with bright pearls, and positioned her over a waterfall that's nearly liquid silk! Opulence...photo studios toil for hours to set up images like this...And behind her, these dark mysterious rocks (craggy), with a big howling face spewing water (and I think I see some other faces in that rock---this isn't a kindergarten day center, I can tell you that---and a ship sailing by, with porpoises in the background and lots of birds and a lightning bolt to die for. (There's light in the far horizon---maybe those porpoises are coming from the gods' and goddesses' heaven.) And the queen is clearly hiding from the cataclysm of that rock, and she seems to own that water. (Amazing water. It's like molten silk and strands of cream rushing all around her.) I know you assemble these from all kinds of images, and you must use your intuition to feel your way through so many choices, until you find the picture just as you want it...but that intuition is all yours, as a lot of people would use these elements to come up with a much more mainstream ornamental, historical or common type of image. But you end up with such creativity and wonderful juxtapositions, and they always feel fresh. New. I mean always. And you top it all off with a patina of a bluish silver gray. It's so opulent and surreal. Terrific, Barb. Your inner eye takes you to places of sheer delight, mystery and magic. (And there's your signature---in ultra muted gray in the rock to the left...I almost missed it!) Mysterious and magical.

Well done! What I like best about your mixed medium pictures (and this is a fine example) is the consistent mood, lighting and blending of all the parts to produce a coherent whole. Many who dabble in this style produce images that seem to me more collages than a unified expression. Thanks very much for sharing, I enjoyed viewing and I also enjoyed the text back story. I do love a good story! =D
