Description

Over the years I've done a few images inspired by the cover art of albums that were major influences in my youth; You can see works loosely based on Thin Lizzy "Live and Dangerous" and "Nightlife", Bruce Springsteen "Born to Run", Hendrix "Band of Gypsys" , BB KIng "The Thrill is Gone" and Osibisa "Woyaya" all in my gallery. Today its the turn of the venerable Uriah Heep, and their seminal "Demons and Wizards" which celebrates its 50th anniversary. Along with Santana's "Abraxas" this was an important part of the soundtrack of my childhood and remains a firm favourite till this day. The opening track (From which this picture takes the title) was probably the first thing I learned on the guitar! The original cover was by the great Roger Dean; I have adapted it loosely (transposing it to a snowy scene to make use of MDDs "Icelyn") but you can hopefully still see the family resemblance...

Ooooohhhhh.... Uriah Heep.... Oh, those were the days.. All you hear these days is that obnoxious rap / hip-hop s##t.

This is an excellent take on the album cover, Joe. I definitely see the resemblance here - great job!

Dang! Uriah Heep!! I hadn't thought of them for years. Lovely picture although I admit without reading your textual explanation of your inspiration I would not have thought of that band.
