Seen large, the chipmunk is very clear---as is the rock he's standing on---and then the rest of the shot is faded, as a focussed-shot would demand. I love how all that beautiful---and very sun drenched---growth leads to that one lone animal standing on that rock like a king. Quite a lush surrounding for a little creature! I know chipmunks carry disease, and they respond to humans quickly. But from this distance, he's declaring his command of that rock, like a soldier declaring rights. A really bright and lush photo, Richard. (I've skipped around only to get a representative sampling of your always consummate gallery. I'm at about 50 minutes in your gallery, so I have to move on...but it's always a pleasure to sit with these works. You remain one of the most quality photographers on this site. Hope all's well with you and your loved ones. I know there's been illness and struggle among them. I hope all is well.)

Excellent capture. I've seen some of them in Bryce Canyon. It's better not to feed them as you answer in a comment. But they are cute ans so funny :-) Great portrait of this chipmunk !

Chipmunks are cute, but I agree, it's safer to not feed them in the wild!
