Description
Captured by the gremmocks, the aliens from another planet or dimension, Miss Leticia
Finche and her trusty guide, Mel, are about to be interrogated by a rather sinister
looking contraption resembling an octopuss. The Commander of the gremmocks has recog-
nized Mel as a member of an old enemy race. These two races from different planets
have had many wars over the millennia with Mel's, or as he is known on his planet,
General Reevaal, race being mostly victorious in their last altercation about 500
years previous.
'This will be most interesting to see what information I can get out of you, General
Reevaal!' exclaims Comm-Sukk, the commander of the aliens from the island below. 'I
think I shall enjoy the looks on your face as this instrument probes deeper and deeper
into your memories. Perhaps I will discover a way for our race to overcome yours in
our next encounter? Hmmmmmmm?'
Just as the probing instrument hums to life, the space ship is rocked by some heavy
turbulence. 'What is going on?' yells Comm-Sukk to his chief engineer Gor-Lekk!
'Commander! We seem to have been caught in a tractor beam! What shall I do?' cries
Gor-Lekk!
Before anything more can happen, General Reevaal and Miss Leticia Finche disappear as
a transporter beam spirits them both off the alien's flying saucer.
They are transported onto one of General Reevaal's scout ships. His comrades there are
busy as well, directing a few companion saucers that are demolishing the island below!
As soon as the General and Miss Finche are safely aboard, the order is given and the
saucer of Comm-Sukk and Gor-Lekk is vaporized in an instant. No debris or other
artifacts to leave behind to betray anyone was ever there. The same thing is happening
to the island below. Once all the saucers of General Reevaal regroup, there isn't a
trace of what used to be a wonderful fantasy island.
'We had to eradicate these vermin once and for all!' says the General to Miss Finche!
'We should have done it at the end of our last war, but there were more pacifists in
control then. These people never learn. They were planning on bringing a large contingent
of their armies here to your planet through the portal on the former island below. It
wouldn't have taken them long to subdue your planet with their superior weapons and
technologies!'
The General explains the histories of his species wars with the gremmocks to Miss Finche.
She is quite amazed with all this information. The General apolgizes as he explains to
her that he will have to modify her memory before he returns her to Bermuda because it
is still too soon for earthlings to learn about aliens and how to access outer space.
The General takes Miss Finche back to Bermuda. His saucer has better cloaking properties
and can't be detected by anyone on the island. After modifying Miss Finche's memory, he
transports her back to her hotel room just before the two airplane pilots knock on her
door.
Miss Finche answers the door. The two pilots wish to take her out for supper. The chief
pilot has just come from the hospital where Steve, the leader of the expedition, has
been treated for some rare and complicated virus or other. He is on the mend, but will
have to spend another day or so under hospital care.
The two pilots and Miss Finche walk down by the pier just as a fishing boat comes into
port. It pulls up in front of them close enough for them to see huge smiles on the
faces of the two fishermen on board. The boat is overflowing with fish!
'Looks like they had a pretty good day fishing!' says the chief pilot.
Miss Finche looks at the two fishermen and has a strange feeling! 'Where have I seen
those guys before?' but shakes off the question. She and the pilots resume their trek
to the restaurant and have a great meal together.
A few days later, Steve gets out of the hospital. The first thing he does is hire the
two fishermen to take him and Miss Finche out to look for the island mentioned in the
diary. Once they get to the coordinates from the diary, all they find is an empty sea!
Not a trace of an island can be found in any direction!
'Well, guess this was a dead end!' exclaims Steve! 'We might as well pack up our bags
and go back home!'
'I agree, Steve! It will be a relief to get back to more familiar surroundings. There
is something about this area that gives me the creeps!'
'I'll notify the pilots!' says Steve. 'We can leave in the morning.'

Who would have every thought that an innocent little trip to the airport in an old 1941 Cadillac limo would have turned into such a convoluted adventure! Who indeed! LOL! Again, thank you all for your kind comments! I have greatly appreciated all of them!
A_Sunbeam
Quite a twist to the story! All wrapped up and tidy - nice work.
CoolDimension
Great job and great action scene! I only wonder how did Miss Finche explain Mel's disappearance? That could be a new story for you to tell! I think Steve and Miss Finche should have some more adventures!

JohnnyM
You are a Pro at writing awesome stories that capture the imagination my friend! This story was truly amazing and rich in detail...specially in the way that you gave each and every character so much depth to their personality.
This has got to be added on to the long list of all the truly magnificent stories you have done in the past Bill. The renders you did to go along with this story were all fantastic and so well done! This conclusion is an instant favorite with me and I give you all my platinum stars I have on me for this stunning creative and artistic work! :-)
Radar_rad-dude
Goodness gracious, JohnnyM! My head is swollen so much by your most appreciated comment that I doubt I will be able to go through doorways for quite some time! LOL! Always a pleasure hearing from you and love your take on my stories. I can't thank you enough! Am always looking forward to your next creations! Many many fine praises and kudos in advance from me!

Well, all's well that ends well.... Or is it? 😉
You did a great job on the story and the accompanying artwork, Bill! Looking forward to the next one.... You do realize, of course, that once the story-telling-bug gets into your bloodstream, you're in it for good. Trust me.... LOL
This was fun!
OmniFX
Great story just wonder why they told Mrs Finche the truth just to modify her memory later. Well done though!
Radar_rad-dude
Thanks for the comment, OmniFX! I greatly appreciate it. As for your question, here is a random thought that came to me after you asked your question. Maybe there will be some little subliminal memory of her experiences and later on, she will write a science fiction book about it! Well..... stranger things have happened, haven't they? LOL! Again, many thanks for your continued support! I always appreciate it to the max!!!!!

I love that you wrote this story. With only 26 letters and a handful of punctuation, whole worlds can be created, and you've created a wonderfully imaginative telling. Keep writing.

Thanks for sharing your story. Unlike most of mine, you actually came to finish! XD
