All done with highly in-efficient splines (almost 40,000 faces!). But i don't think i could achieve the same results with poly modeling (other than the handle). I'm trying for photo realism. Any suggestions? I think i need to tone down the reflections on the handle and dim the lights a bit. All comments welcome.

I think you answered yourself. The handle is a little to reflective. But that's a great job on the blade. I like the imperfections and you got the serrated top edge nearly perfect. Very good!

nah it looks really fine, really sharp :)

The modeling looks perfect! Perhaps using a reflectionmap for the metal (no yellow in it) could give it a finishing touch? The wood shines a bit too much perhaps, but it looks great!

Very realistic... very nice textures.

Why do you model a knife? look kinda nice though..

Great modeling, and texture! One thing concern me is the background is too sharp to kill my eyes. Good job overall :)

Thanks for the comments. Well a knife comes in handy all the time. So why not model one? Sorry about the backgroud. I was looking for SOMETHING to put it against and saw my pants sitting there.... Thank you all.

Hmm, 40 000 is really too much. Good work anyway. Point of knife is so sharp, that it will break off soon. Do you tried RHINO ? Its better at such exact modelling than max. Hae few drawbacks too.
P.S.
Look at bottle opener, it looks like it has sharp top, like saw blade on the knife. I think tits modelled good, but look this way because of the lighting and background.

Yea the tip is lit pretty bright and is lost in the background, making it look very delicate. 40,000 is way too many i agree. Models in Rhino tend to be huge as well. Well thanks for the comments everyone.
