Description
After Hokusai
I wanted to capture the threadbare theme of the pin-up. This time, these women are taking their ascent into their own hands to escape, with more or less success, from the male gaze. The characterization of each is to be placed in relation to the image of the mountain borrowed from the history of art. This mountain, which is difficult to reach, at least by sight, is that of the place that men have granted themselves. At the turn of these 10 images, I give the female characters different postures, between insurance and endangerment, thus testifying that their reconquest of spaces is still today, a risk-taking.

Ah, well I am not surprised that the climber now wears a stylized oriental outfit as she climbs past an image by Hokusai. I love those images for their sharp, clear and yet stylized representation of reality. Thank you for sharing, my dear!

It's just. I wanted an offbeat vision of the climber using her costume, a bit like a Western vision focused on the East. Similarly, the frame of the print loses this monumentality of the western frame of the oil painting.

C'est juste.

An intriguing composition, and rather thought provoking on many levels; orientalism, the west's perception of the east, the role of women in eastern society... also an interesting choice of "the thunderstorm" from amongst the 36 views of mount fuji, which is laden with metaphorical possibilities!
