Description

As common with the evolution of many of my Nature's Wonders set, this and other lizards in my Volume 5, were created as food sources for my upcoming Eagles set. After doing the research on the eagles diet, I found that most of the lizard eaten, I hadn't created, such as the Sand and Ocellated Lizards and Caucasian Agama. Most of those lizards were pretty plain, so I put in a House gecko and the very colorful Rainbow Agama to give the set some eye candy. The Rainbow agama can be found native in countries such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, India and Madagascar. However, it has been introduced through the reptile trade to southern Florida, where it has become extremely common. It is well-suited to arid conditions. These lizards remain active throughout the day except for the hottest hour, when even shady spots can reach 38 °C (100 °F). These lizards live in deserts, savannas, forests, and mountains. They also occur in urban and suburban areas. It is also called the “Common Agama” and the “Red-headed Rock Agama”. Its size varies from 13 to 30 cm (5.1 to 11.8 in) in total length. Males are typically 7.5 to 12 cm (3.0 to 4.7 in) longer than the average female. This lizard can be identified by being grayish-brown and often having a red or yellow tinted head. Males undergo a conspicuous color change during mating season, turning bright red, blue, and shades of yellow. Females, in this species, are known to court males.

Fantastic! Excellent expression on the blue one - he looks like he's enjoying soaking up the sun rays.
