original title was Custer's Last Stand, but renamed to Independence Day.

Ah! The tripods! An excellent science fiction action scene, here. I always think "War of the Worlds" but there have been any number of stories including a YA book series about tripods (I'm thinking the books were made into a TV series by the BBC, too). Thanks for sharing your take on what is an excellent trope! =)
