Description
After what happened the last time Xerr lost on creature game night, the tavern is nearly empty as the three friends play a round of cards. Only Echu is brave enough to stick around, and only because he has a coupon for grog.
==AMY’S NOTES==
I started this scene in March but ran into a few issues that made me want to return to it later. Apparently it’s now later :-)
I wish Cybertenko had included a completely zeroed version of a hand of cards, as they come zeroed in position for M4 to be holding, and that makes it hard to rotate them around for other figures or to lie flat on a table! I confess I know nothing about card games, so I have no idea what game they’re playing.
Rendered in July 2022 using Firefly in Poser Pro 11.3 for Mac at 3200 × 1800 pixels. Postwork in ON1 Effects. View full size on my blog.

it's a very nice tavern scene. If you have difficulty posing cards in a wide variety of ways, you can try poses from STZ poker night (santuziy78), the card model contains many morphs. This is what I used for my own series.
perpetualrevision
Thanks for the comment and for the recommendation! I'll check out that set.

Great fantasy creatures and scene!

Thanks so much for the comment, A_Sunbeam!

Great scene.

Fantastic scene!!! Love the figures and the posing and lighting. All of it. Again more creatures I haven't seen before.
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much! I love creatures, esp. ones that can look friendly. I've used Tsathoggua before and will definitely do so again, as he seems to have a pretty interesting personality. I'm pretty sure Xerr has shown up in some of your renders, and he's a great creature. This is the first time I've used Suijin, but I also used him in another render I'll post in a few weeks (I'm trying to stick to posting only on even days, but my backlog goes into mid-August, so I might not stick to that plan!) I'm working on a scene now with Bolladon, a rock creature of limited expressiveness but interesting nonetheless. And I have a few other creatures I've yet to work with but look forward to!

Such a game head end, they'll probably kill each other, we're used to watching it like this in films, right? Like a cowboyism!

Cute one : )
mazzam
This is what fantasy is about. Fine scene.
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the kind comment, mazzam!

you really nailed the atmosphere with the lighting. love the trick from the original with the dogs. cool and fun. love the fat creature on left.
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the comment! I love Tsathoggua (the fat one on the left). He looks like he has quite the personality, and I look forward to working with him some more!
CleonXXI
Splendid scene! Fun and very thoughtfully composed!!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the kind comment! I do wish I had a way to introduce some crumbs onto the table, because these fellas do not look like the sort to eat bread and cheese neatly :-)
CoolDimension
Great creature scene! Great lighting and expressions!

This is awesome. Great lighting and details. You really set the mood. Love the creature with his hand on his belly. Mob bosses on another planet getting together to lay out terms over a card game
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the comment! I love working with creatures, but even more so in low, moody lighting! Getting Tsathoggua and Suijin to hold a hand of cards was hard enough. I didn't even try with Xerr, so he's put his hand down on the table for whatever reason!
gerberc
Fantastic fantasy scene, the lightning is spot on! I have some of these creatures so I can really appreciate the quality of your posing and render! Instant fave!!
madame
These charming creatures seems to have fun and good time, superb lighting effects and mood.... amazing work, I love it !!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the comment, and I'm glad you found the creatures charming, as that was certainly my intent! I love using creature figures in more light-hearted contexts like this, as horror is definitely not my genre!
Flint_Hawk
Your lighting, posing & expressions are perfect! I'm glad that you didn't give up on this scene! I hope there will be a peaceful conclusion to the game!
perpetualrevision
Thank you so much for the comment! I love how expressive these creature figures are. I have a few others that are harder to convey emotion with, but these three are full of character, esp. Tsathoggua and Xerr!
mickale
that is a fun scene! love those characters. your lighting is perfect..nice work!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much! I love working with these kinds of creatures, and candlelight is one of my favorite ways to light a scene :-)
UteBigSmile
I really love this new image, which looks simply very funny and well done!
OmniFX
These characters look like very jolly creatures. Excellent lighting and background. Well done!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the comment! I'm glad they look jolly, as that was my goal (rather than having them look menacing). I wouldn't want to be around Xerr if he loses his temper, but otherwise I'm sure these fellas are big old softies :-)
MeInOhio
This is really great. Superb lighting!

totally delightful!!!!
artdreamer
They are a bit scary, but they are characters that I like. Hopefully they don't get into a fight while playing cards.
MollyFootman
I love the sense of pleasant interaction between the card players. I've been working through another series dealing with card playing art by marcopol and this image has a remarkable continuity with how card players appear to interact according to so many artists. Also, I now have some new interesting creatures on my list as I have only 2 of these. XD
Thanks for sharing, Amy. This one was very enjoyable to view.

Fantastic! I know you from your comments on my images. I had no idea you were so talented!

Great whimsical scene! Kind of reminds me of something out of Odd World (a PC game). I have been away a long time and will have to figure out how you added the Production Credits, things have changed a bit here. LOVE your render!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the comment! This one was fun to put together. I like using creatures in "friendly" ways :-)
As for including credit links: Next time you post a render, look on the Upload Art page for a section titled Production Credits (under the Art Details section).
In the Production Credits section, you can either paste the direct URL for each product you used (which of course means you have to look it up in the store first) or you can enter the vendor's name and use the dropdown that appears to select the product you used.
Hope that helps!
