Description


April starred in her own micro-series, produced by Archie Comics back in the 80s. My memory is a little fuzzy on whether or not this was before or after her cartoon appearance. Archie Comics would also do comics based off the cartoon, so my gut wants to say that it was after the cartoon started, but I seem to recall that not being the case. I'm going to have to look it up. Anyway, her look in this micro-series was different from both her previous (Mirage Comics) look/s, and from her appearance in the cartoon, so I felt it counts as a separate incarnation. I think I have the first couple of issues somewhere, and if I remember correctly, the series had little to do with any of the storylines of the day. It was also pretty good. I should also mention that Archie did several comics like this, including an excellent set of G.I. Joe comics. Excellent, especially since Marvel's series was bogged down with pushing new toys at that time. Unsung heroes, methinks. (They certainly handled Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman really well!) I took a few liberties, based on what assets I have and such. I would have liked a more voluminous hair, but I think this works. I'm reminded that there is an actual lack of 80s-style hair assets. Not that her hair was especially crazy or anything, but it was certainly thicker. In her micro-series, she trains as a kunoichi and ends up battling a number of crazy villains. It never really feels forced, either. I believe she was working as a reporter. You know, I need to just see if the run is on comixology so I can get all these background details right. :grin: I hope you enjoy! Next will likely be a render based on her first cartoon appearance. Yellow jumpsuit and such. I've done one in the past, but it was more or less an in-universe cosplay for another character of mine. Model is Oaklyn, wearing the Bang Bob Hair. I am reminded that dforce isn't the best for thicker fabrics. I know I could add a push modifier to the leather coat to get some of its thickness back, but opted to not wade through that at this time as it quickly turns finicky and can completely fall apart when you go to run the simulation. Hopefully it still looks natural enough.
