Description

I cannot express the sadness and devastation of letting you go after all these years. But the pain from the arthritis has crippled you to the point it is not fair for you. Your declining vision due to the cataracts taking away the joy of chasing your oversize tennis balls. You are my stoic stud, so when you collapsed on our morning walk and gave me "The Look", I knew it was time. You were a long shot--a street rescue from Compton CA who had to learn how to play as well as and socialize with other dogs. Even with those tough years surviving on the streets, you are the gentlest of dogs, accepting all, but defending your turf and me when you felt called upon to do it. The one who was relentless in your walks and the pace you wanted to set. The one who would always look for me, who was my shadow where ever I went. Who would sit at the front door and wait for me to return--knowing I would never leave you. 16 was an incredible age to reach for your breed and to stay active as you have until recently a testament to your strong heart and spirit despite your afflictions. In your acceptance and affection for all who crossed your front doorway--but would defend me fearlessly if you thought I was threatened. Goodbye my old dog; Take joy in getting to see your old friends Twix, Yoda, and Jager--and meet the new ones Harley, Taz, and Davey as you cross the Rainbow bridge. You can now chase your oversize tennis balls for eternity without collapsing. Watching you lay next to me on your bed as I struggle with these emotions and compose these words, "I love you and will forever" seems inadequate. When it is my time, I will see you and the lads and lass (Twix) waiting for me and forget this pain as we reunite.

I am so very sorry... The hardest thing is to be able to let go and maybe that makes me a bad person, but... I hurt much more after losing my furnose than after losing human companions...

We went through Compassion for Paws(https://compassion4paws.com/) here in Seattle.

A vet came out tot he house, first shot put him in a deep sleep. The second guided him across the Rainbow bridge.

No anxiety, it was fairly quick--still hurts like hell.

Always tough to lose a pal. A friend just let his dog go. I always enjoyed taking him out when I visited. So sad.
