Description
"The forests of earth are burning almost everywhere in the world and with them millions of animals are burning alive, foxes, squirrels, wild rabbits, ground mice, songbirds, beetles and much more, I dare not think of it."
If you could hear them screaming in pain, it would be a concert of unspeakable suffering! But who thinks about the animals, that's all I want to say! Who even thinks about these devastating forest fires in Australia, I think almost no one.
It is man, who is supposed to be the crown of creation, who is fighting for his very survival. Not to mention the many firefighters who are working under inhumane conditions and risking their own lives day and night trying to contain the flames.
In these times of climate change, who needs wars at all? Probably only those who deny climate change or those who have nothing in their heads!
That's all I want to say about this sad topic!

Well spoken. We grew milkweed plants for monarchs that never came. On January 23rd 2020 I posted an image, "Saving The Kangaroo" and donated it to a department in Australia. It was a gesture. We have a naturalized lawn and have listened for the sound of insects that is not there.

Congrats for this great gesture that you have done, far too few people think of the animals that perish in such fires, be it just a tiny insect, all have their right to live, such as e.g. the wasps that eat the larvae of the highly toxic processional caterpillar. In Spain it was a real plague every year.

Well said. I have been working in the environment all my life and though there are many dedicated individuals who tirelessly give their best, the apathy of the general public and short-sighted self interest of governments around the world is a daunting obstacle...

Thanks, Ute. There is always a lot of blather about this or that existential crisis. As far as I can see, there is only one real threat to all existence that is not being addressed at all: climate. Very nice, evocative image.
