Description
After Francis Montague Holl, No tidings from the sea.
Joe Jarrah made me want to take an interest in English genre painting. I thus discovered the paintings of a painter named Francis Montague Holl. What struck me in this exacerbated sentimentality was often the absence of the loved one, whether sailor, soldier, or even in prison, which by contrast gave a strong presence to the female characters. For this mini series, I chose to transpose this social misery into another, more contemporary one, the one that binds us to our screens. My characters lack a part of themselves in the lack of relationship established by the interface of the screens.

"Un seul être vous manque et tout est dépeuplé", Ici ce n'est pas le marin parti en mer, mais le gamer parti en découdre pour une énième compétition de jeu. Les trois générations de la famille "écran" sont réunies autour de la mère éplorée qui se raccroche à ce qu'elle peut, pour ne pas sombrer. Surprenante interprétation...mais bien dans le thème. Je pense que les familles russes ou ukrainiennes ont plus de soucis à se faire qu'une famille de gamer...

Il y a des moments dans nos vies où le manque de ceux qu'on aime nous en fait perdre le sens, au point même de trouver que le jour qui se lève est absurde. L'image, le jeu de la fiction qu'elle propose est-elle un secours ? Elle redouble notre vison de la réalité, qui n'est que la projection d'un réel qui nous échappe. La guerre est une chose ignoble.

This one is really painful to me. I hate when things like gaming addiction pull families in different directions. Perhaps that was not what you intended with the image but I though I should share what spoke to me.

Well done, dear Molly. The model painting shows a family devastated by what presumably the man has gone off to war. I don't like the idea that social networks can alienate us from people who count on us and who are important to us. for there to be; in my eyes, the concept of augmented reality should already be given its value to this first reality where I feel alive, among the others.
