The deck seemed to jolt sharpening and buck beneath them. Crewmen were sent unprepared hurting from their seats even as the Captain clung tightly to the solidity of the command chair. The helmsman struggled to maintain his post; leaning with the ship, bracing himself with one leg out as he held as tightly as possible to the edges of the console. The danger warning light flashed bright red repeatedly as emergency klaxons sounded loudly throughout the ship. The communications console speakers seemed to spring to life with dozens of voices all at once, some making fast reports, while others yelled in panic. "Helm!" The Captain yelled above the klaxon as best he could. "Starboard! Get us around some of this debris as cover!" "Aye, Captain!" The Helmsman yelled back as she struggled with the console. The Captain started to yell a command to his science officer, but when he glanced over, she lay motionless on the deck in a pool of blood about her head. His heart sank, but he had little time to consider anything else but get the ship back under control and into a defensive position.
