focused more on the terrain today, painting the texture and adding grass. the grass causes slowdown, lol but i think im doing something wrong (no surprise). im using the landscape foliage tool here but should maybe use the procedural grass first then touch up w/ foliage tool?!? i started w/ the smallest default terrain and going thru it with the paintbrush is a serious task, and the slowdown makes it exponentially more difficult =/ also was challenged getting the dirt trail on the grass to look right. as you paint, the strokes fade, and smoothing out the edges and overlays is tedious...
