Description
'Captain' said Lt Shala, 'there's a staff car outside - looks like it's an official visit.'
'At this time in the evening? Must be something important.
Stand by the door lieutenant.'
Outside the Police Station Kara, wearing her Brigadier's uniform, waited for her driver to open the car door, stepped out onto the pavement, pausing while he closed the door, and then turned to enter the building.
'It's a Brigadier,' Shala whispered, but not one I've met before.'
'Open the door for her then, lieutenant.'
‘Good evening, Captain Feng’ said Kara entering the room
‘Brigadier - how can I be of assistance?;
‘We have received your report and Headquarters has sent me to take charge of the robot belonging to the Gang of Three.’
‘I have no advance notification of this order, Brigadier.’
‘Nor did you need one. I have brought all the documents necesary for the transfer of the robot to us, signed by the General.’
Captain Feng took the proffered papers, read them through carefully.
‘All is in order, Brigadier.’
‘As is to be expected; all in accordance with the Army Regulations as established by Our Leader.’
‘Our Leader was deposed many years ago, Brigadier.’
‘The rules have not required any revision since then.’
Feng looked at Kara with a puzzled expression. One was not encouraged to talk about the disgraced Leader, it was just 'not done'.
‘Damn,’ thought Kara, ‘I should have refreshed my history banks when I left domestic service; some of my data is obsolete.’
Turning to her troopers she ordered them to fetch the robot and escort it to the car.
‘At once, Brigadier.’
There was something familar about the Brigadier’s face that Feng could not pin down - had she seen it before? If so when - and where?
‘If you are wondering why I have arrived at this time of day, captain, it is because I wish to take advantage of the dark evening to avoid attracting suspicion; there are eyes everywhere and this Gang of Three seem to be outsmarting every officer in this area.
All ports, airports and stations have been put on alert to watch out for them - our ‘usual suspects’.’
Kara stood, waiting patiently, and silently, while Becko was released from her cell, handcuffed, and marched to the staff car.
“Thank you, Captain,’ she remarked, returning Feng's salute, turned and left the building.
Feng watched the car glide away; nice car, she thought, but hardly the latest model.
Come to that, she continued, sitting down and leaning back in her chair, I’m sure that uniform smelt a little musty - and - the rank star colours were changed about six years ago.
I wonder, she asked herself - is it possible that …?
Leaning forward she took her mobile from her pocket and rang the nearest port, introducing herself.
‘I wonder, she began, if you are on high alert watching out for three robots that - oh, you’re not? No alerts for anything this month? Thank you.”
Restoring the phone to her pocked, she muttered 'We've been conned! The little villain!
She began to laugh.

Must remember to remove musty smell from old obsolete uniforms in future escapades, Chomper makes note to himself! LOL! Another excellent adventure in Chomper land! Love it!

Apparently the Gang of Three is indeed outsmarting every officer in the area! Is she really all that surprised that she was conned? At least she can take comfort knowing that she was conned by some of the best :-)
