Description
In this sorta silly one, a pair of Albatros fighters from Jasta 17 begin their gun passes on an unsuspecting dragon. They'd better make it good, as the rate of closure is rather low, and the dragon can unleash a lot of hurt on such machines...
Horrido! wasn't likely used in this era as the lack of radios would make it pointless.
A little wacky, Ute, but I hope you enjoy your weekend..
Spin took less than a minute. Have something more steam punkish to follow up next...one I should have done months ago.

I rode in a WWII trainer that was never used for anything. it was in a crate and passed ownership 2 to 4 times until the owner of a local museum bought it and assembled it.
very interesting dog fight

Thanks Johnny - a lot of folks purchased trainers for next to nothing., Some became dusters, others pay-for-rides, and others just something to do on weekends.
Good to hear the old girl was saved.

Err Richard - sorry was responding to both and missed :)

If the dragon does dive maneuver and circles right behind them, they are toast with its dragon breath! My unsolicited advice to them would be...aim carefully as you are not going to get many second chances! Excellent work on this fun scene! :-)

The dragon's a big boy too...he probably could out dive the Albatros, although they were pretty good vertical fighters once they repositioned the upper main spar. If the aircraft dive through their passes, the dragon might have them. If they climb out they might have a chance, though they probably don't have enough energy to extend very far.
Thanks Johnny - Dragons are rarely portrayed as being particularly maneuverable, though the ones in the old Woody Harrelson movie were pretty impressive airborne. The fighters need to register good hits and hopefully startle the dragon long enough to buy time.
This was intended to use either a 109 or a P40 but I went with the Albatros for a better cockpit view. Shame for the pilots; the 109's three 20mm guns and greater speed would gave them a much better chance of survival. Also, there's a steampunk scene to be done after, which suits the older airframes :)

Thanks eekdog - used a POV camera from Riversoft that was on sale. It's quite good.

Fantastic work! They'd better aim carefully, because they may not get a second pass.
jdwtrxk
Thanks starship - they won't and those 7.92 MGs might not penetrate....
