Rashlya had made her patients comfortable before bringing in their meals. She spent some time learning a little about the other two, since there was no evidence in the system that they had ever been born. Unlike her mother and herself, the other two had been born into slavery. As such, they were having a little bit of difficulty with the concept of being free. After clearing the tray away, she returned to her Mothers side. "I spoke with the Captain." She smiled. "The position of medical officer here is yours if you want it. As he put it, there's no great wealth or recognition being here, but it beats no where." "And would I get one of those sporty uniforms too?" Her Mother grinned, a small twinkle in her eyes for the first time in years. "It's kind of a requirement." Rashiya nodded curtly and laughed. "Took a little getting used to." "So," Her Mother reached out and touched her daughters arm gently. "Doctor, when are we to be released from your loving care?" "Never." She smiled. "But a couple more days in here, just to get your strength back up." "That sounds good to me. Now, as ships engineer, Don't you have other duties to attend to?" "Oh!" Rashiya exclaimed with wide eyed excitement. "I'll check on you throughout the day." She started to turn towards then door, then paused and glanced back. "It's good to have you back with me again." The older woman smiled, a hint of mischief in her eyes as an old memory came to mind. "Get out of here, Kid. Go play, you bugging me now." They both burst into happy laughter and then Rashiya darted out the door. "Chief Engineer." Her Mother smiled proudly as she settled back against the pillow.
